Mecar Metal Inc. takes the protection of your privacy very seriously. This policy describes how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information in accordance with the Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector (Bill 25, Quebec).

1. Personal Information

Personal information is information that identifies a natural person, such as name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, gender, marital status, employment, education and employment history, and health information.

Exceptions: Professional titles, business addresses and business telephone numbers in the course of employment are not considered personal information under Bill 25.

We strive to keep your information accurate, complete, and up-to-date. We may ask you to provide us with updates as needed, but we also take reasonable steps to verify and correct information when necessary.

2. Consent

We seek your free, informed, written consent before collecting, using, or disclosing
your personal information for specified purposes.

  • If we wish to use your information for other purposes, we will seek your consent again.
  • You may withdraw your consent at any time in writing, subject to legal or contractual restrictions.
  • In certain situations provided by law, we may collect, use, or disclose information without consent, for example: legal obligations, medical emergencies, security, fraud investigations, or law enforcement.

We would like to point out that, in these cases, the legal basis justifying the collection or use will be documented.

3. Reliability and Accuracy

It is important that the personal information we hold is accurate, complete and upto-date, according to the purposes for which it is intended. We ensure that the personal information we use on an ongoing basis, including information we disclose to third parties, is as accurate and up-to-date as possible, unless there are clearly established limits on its accuracy. We do not routinely update personal information
except as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. The accuracy, currency and completeness of personal information depends on how you enter your data when you provide your consent to its collection.

4. Responsibility and safety

We are responsible for personal information that we hold or control, including that which is entrusted to third parties for processing.

  • We require these third parties to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality and security.
  • We apply appropriate technical and organizational security measures, including access control, encryption, logging and staff training.
  • Only authorized employees have access to personal information, and only in the course of their duties.

The Privacy Officer (PPO) oversees the implementation of this policy and ensures compliance with Bill 25.

5. Restrictions on Collection, Use and Disclosure of Personal Data.

We generally collect personal information to verify an individual’s identity, create an employee record, or comply with legal requirements (some information is necessary for tax purposes). We only collect, use and disclose your personal information for the purposes we have indicated to you. Only certain authorized individuals may access your personal information, and only for the purpose of their assigned duties.

6. Transfers outside Quebec or Canada

If your information is transferred to third parties located outside of Quebec or Canada, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with Bill 25.

7. Access, rectification and deletion

You have the right to:

  • Viewing the Personal Information We Hold About You
  • Request their rectification or deletion
  • Request limitation of their use or disclosure

To exercise these rights, you may contact the RPRP in writing.

8. Policy Updates

This policy may be subject to review and change, such changes are intended to improve our transparency and ensure that our practices reflect our company values.
