Founded in 1969, Groupe Rosemex / Mecar Métal Inc. specializes in the manufacturing and marketing of high-quality heat exchange products used for the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning of institutional, commercial, and industrial buildings.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

We are currently looking for a Senior Designer to join our team in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed drawings, assembly drawings, and layout plans required to design parts and equipment that are manufactured, assembled, installed, and maintained in accordance with the department’s drafting standards.

Responsibilities

Design and Engineering :
  • Perform the design and 3D modeling of heating and ventilation products.
  • Create and verify 2D drawings (manufacturing, assembly and installation/shop drawings).
  • Ensure continuous improvement of standard products and resolve technical issues.
  • Master applicable standards, terminology and technical symbols.
  • Specify particular procedures (e.g.: painting, taggings, etc.).
  • Ensure the product complies with all specified requirements.
Project Management and Documentation
  • Gather all relevant information necessary for the completion or execution of a project;
  • Produce Bills of Materials (Bill of Materials - BOM);
  • Manage project-related purchasing;
  • Have knowledge of an ERP system;
  • Coordinate and participate in project kick-off meetings.
Production Implementation and Follow-up
  • Establish manufacturing processes;
  • Create work orders in the system (BOM);
  • Perform all required verifications before production launch;
  • Ensure follow-up during manufacturing phases;
  • Take measurements and site details and provide assistance when required;
  • Ensure component assemblies are completed when required.
Coordination and Archiving
  • Coordinate work with other departments (engineering, purchasing);
  • At the end of each project, proceed with the digital and/or paper archiving of the project file;
  • Perform any other related general tasks requested by the supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • DEC in industrial drafting (or equivalent).
Experience
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in the HVAC field
Technical Knowledge
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills.
  • Proficiency with 2D and 3D design software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal machinery (a major asset).
  • Ability to quickly learn other design software.
  • French proficiency; English is an asset
