Founded in 1969, the Rosemex Group / Mecar Métal Inc. specializes in the manufacturing and marketing of high-quality heat exchange products used for the heating and ventilation of institutional, commercial, and industrial buildings.

We are currently seeking a Director of Engineering to join our engineering team in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville. Reporting to the Sales Director, you will oversee the employees of the technical and estimating departments and will be responsible for estimating, technical applications, sales support services, requisition, and production launch.

Responsibilities

As Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

ESTIMATING

  • Perform product selections and estimate customer project costs using internal software;

  • Evaluate potential bids, including:

  • Quick review of plans and specifications;
  • Establishing priorities;
  • Prepare and review bids for standard and custom HVAC products;

  • Develop and analyze specifications, drawings, and schedules to provide proposals that meet client requirements;

  • Validate potential project timelines for bids;

  • Prepare preliminary bills of materials;

  • Create bid numbers;

  • Customize bills of materials;

  • Evaluate manufacturing costs and lead times;

  • Prepare bid packages (administrative documents) in the event of pre-purchases;

  • Prepare and submit bids to clients;

  • Take field measurements at job sites.


ENGINEERING

  • Demonstrate strong expertise in HVAC systems;

  • Apply standards, formulas, and engineering calculations;

  • Evaluate feasibility with internal departments (design, production);

  • Produce, review, and distribute documentation required for approval by clients, agents, and representatives;

  • Prepare and issue release documents for the design department, including specifications, technical documents, schedules, requisitions, and control of customer-supplied products;

  • Produce shop drawings and engineering calculations for approval in accordance with plans, specifications, and/or client requests;

  • Perform and validate selections for shop drawings;

  • Prepare relevant documentation (approval/production);

  • Draft technical documentation (specifications and approval shop drawings);

  • Research technical information when required;

  • Consolidate technical information to complete engineering activities (updating specifications and drawings based on latest addenda);

  • Provide technical advice and support to all departments within the company;

  • Communicate with internal departments to ensure specifications and shop drawings are compliant;

  • Communicate with contractors and engineers regarding technical questions;

  • Submit specifications for approval to contractors and manage modifications due to changes;

  • Prepare Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals and spare parts lists.


PRODUCTION LAUNCH

  • Enter requisitions into the ERP system;

  • Complete ISO quality forms within the engineering department to ensure contract follow-up and contract review;

  • Modify purchase orders according to manufacturing processes.


CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

  • Optimize the estimating process and departmental work methods;

  • Develop tools to improve daily task efficiency;

  • Contribute to the improvement and development of new products;

  • Implement and maintain performance dashboards.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or knowledge of building mechanical manufacturing operations

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position

  • Experience in customer relationship management

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems

  • Proficiency with computer-aided design systems, including AutoCAD

  • Excellent command of spoken and written French and English

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

  • Experience managing ERP systems
